Joaquin’s Aglianico “I Viaggiatori” is an intense red, which comes from the highest quality grapes of centuries-old vineyards. The choice not to use wood during the winemaking and subsequent aging processes preserves the extraordinary varietal aromatic outfit of this noble vine from our southern Italy. The bouquet is very elegant, with aromas of small red berries, notes of undergrowth, spices and toasted hints. The fruit, dense and ripe, makes the sip harmonious and deep, with a great final persistence. “I Viaggiatori” is a pure Aglianico of particular value. The grapes come, in fact, from almost 200-year-old ungrafted vines in the Paternopoli area, one of the highest areas of the Taurasi valley, in the green heart of Irpinia. The cool, continental climate allows Aglianico to mature slowly and retain a fresh and elegant profile. At the end of the harvest, which takes place in mid-October, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in fiberglass tanks, with a maceration on the skins for 10 days. The wine then rests for a few months in fiberglass tanks and completes its refinement process with a few months in the bottle before being put on the market. “I Viaggiatori” Aglianico is one of the most interesting labels of the young Joaquin winery, which was born with the aim of enhancing the traditional vines of the Irpinia area in their maximum varietal expression. The recovery of old vines and the desire to maximize the quality of the raw material are the basis of this interesting Aglianico with an intense ruby color with youthful purple hues. On the nose it is characterized by aromas of small dark berry fruits, aromas of Mediterranean scrub, undergrowth, spicy, toasted and licorice root hints. On the palate it has a good structure, a dense and ripe tannic texture, a dense, intense fruit and a closure on fresh, slightly spicy notes.
