Tua Rita’s Redigaffi is a wine that by right becomes part of that small circle of wines among the few to be considered a spearhead for value, expression and innate elegance noticeable on the sip. Celebrated and acclaimed by many, he knows how to be desired and amazes. A demanding and unattainable wine, it owes its name to the river that flows along the cellar. The creation of a wine now recognized worldwide as a highly coveted author’s wine was perhaps not in the plans of the two spouses who own the winery, Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti; but in 1994 the two spouses, always with the clear desire to seek the best territorial expression through their wines, without compromise and of extreme quality, understood that from two barriques of Merlot only, subtracted from Giusto di Notri, a liquid with implications was born unattainable. The vines from which Redigaffi is obtained are 30 years old and since 1992 the one who can now be considered as one of the leading international oenologists, Luca D’Attoma, has moved between the rows. Right here the latter was able to best express his skills by choosing dense and low plants, with a Bordeaux appeal, with a management system aimed at a better yield and pursuing organic cultivation. In seeking the best expression, D’Attoma himself understood that the central area of the gently sloping soil, with its clayey, silty soil and with the presence of a small skeleton, was better suited to being vines with Merlot only. Listening and research skills. Redigaffi is the result of a careful selection of the best grapes that are chosen parcel by parcel. Once in the cellar, they are fermented with only indigenous yeasts exclusively in oak wood vats and the maceration on the skins involves several punching down to extract the maximum concentration clearly evident in the glass. The aging of the wine lasts 18-20 months in French oak barriques, followed by a short period of rest in the bottle. The Redigaffi is bright ruby red to the eye. On the nose there are sensations of crunchy red fruit, oriental spices, cumin, tobacco, soft balsamic notes on light cocoa powder, red flowers, freshly worked leather and almost ferrous minerality. Great balance emerges on the palate, it is warm, fresh, with rampant tannins that run through the elegantly long finish. A concentration of terroir and a harbinger of unique tales, this is the secret of its great wealth.
