Description
Joaquin’s Fiano di Avellino “Vino della Stella” is a fresh and intense expression of this extraordinary white grape variety from our south, which in Irpinia has found the ideal habitat to reach levels of absolute excellence. Its floral and fruity aromas open to ripe aromas of exotic fruit and nuances of medicinal herbs. The vibrant freshness gives a taut and energetic sip, which stretches with linear verticality towards a pleasantly savory finish.
The white “Vino della Stella” is a Fiano di Avellino that comes from the Joaquin di Montefalcione estate, in the heart of the Irpinia area. The vines are grown in Montefalcione at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level, on limestone-clayey soils. The particularly suitable soils and the fresh and continental climate allow Fiano to mature while retaining its proverbial freshness and refined expressive elegance. The manual harvest is usually done in early November. After the soft pressing of the grapes, the free-run must undergoes fermentation, which takes place in steel tanks with a maceration on the skins for a couple of days. The wine undergoes a partial malolactic fermentation and after a short passage in cask, it completes the refinement with at least six months in the bottle before being put on sale.
The “Vino della Stella” of the young Joaquin winery is a Fiano of good complexity and aromatic richness, supported by the proverbial freshness typical of the grape. The cultivation at over 500 meters above sea level, the cool climate and the strong temperature variations, give an elegant bouquet with aromas of white flowers, aromas of fruit and citrus, tropical nuances, Mediterranean scrub and fresh hazelnuts. The sip is intense and deep, wrapped in a limpid freshness with sapid and mineral connotations.
