Chardonnay “Lafoà” is one of the leading products of the entire range made by Colterenzio in Appiano. In fact, it is a bottle that belongs to the “selections” line, whose name refers to the great qualitative revolution started in the 1980s by Colterenzio, a cooperative reality that began at that time a path based on absolute quality and low yields in vineyard. A not easy path, which however, after a few decades, leads to the creation of labels such as “Lafòa”, where the Chardonnay grape expresses itself on levels that are nothing short of excellent. Personality and character abound both in the nose and in the mouth, where the sip flows thanks to a truly pleasant refreshing component. The “Lafòa” is a 100% Chardonnay that the Colterenzio winery obtains from old vines reared with the espalier method, which grow within vineyards located at an altitude between 400 and 550 meters above sea level. The terroir is mainly made up of a morainic and sandy subsoil, and in the vineyard, where organic farming principles are followed, yields are voluntarily kept low, around 45 quintals per hectare, so as to favor the growth of few but important bunches. The grapes, carefully selected during the harvest phase, once brought to the rooms used for the vinification of Colterenzio, ferment in both new and used barriques, also carrying out malolactic fermentation. We then move on to the maturation phase, which lasts for 10 months in oak barriques, both used and new. Chardonnay “Lafòa” is a wine that, upon visual examination, shows a golden yellow color, bright and inviting in the glass. The bouquet of perfumes that constitutes the olfactory profile of this product comes from fruity and floral notes, to then evolve with more buttery aromas. In the mouth it is full-bodied, soft, round and full, with a sip that flows on the palate with remarkable freshness. A label with which the Colterenzio winery reaches important qualitative heights, as evidenced also by the excellent awards obtained by the main Italian and foreign reference guides.
