Description
Maculan’s Chardonnay “Ferrata” is a white from Veneto that is appreciated above all for its intensity and aromatic complexity. The grapes come from one of the best company crus, which traditionally provides high quality bunches. The choice of a vinification in barrique helps to give the wine an international face, with ripe and ample fruity notes, soft tertiary aromas and a good propensity for aging.
Maculan’s “Ferrata” Chardonnay is an important glass, which highlights the Breganze area’s vocation for the cultivation of the most famous international grape varieties, both red and white. The soils rich in tuff of ancient volcanic origin and the cool and breezy climate of the hills that rise towards the first peaks of the Asiago plateau, proved to be perfect for giving Chardonnay rich and ripe aromas, while retaining a good freshness. The grapes come from the Ferrata vineyard, which takes its name from the road that passes next to the rows, following the ancient route of a railway and which supplied the fighters at the front during the First World War. After the harvest, the grapes are subjected to cold maceration for two days, followed by soft pressing in hyper-reduction. Fermentation takes place directly in new Allier oak barriques where it then matures on its lees for 5 months. It completes the refinement with one year in the bottle before being placed on the market.
The Maculan Chardonnay “Ferrata” of the Breganze winery is a rich and full-bodied white, suitable for important combinations with tasty baked fish, white meats or medium-aged cheeses. The color is light yellow with bright golden reflections and the olfactory profile is broad and intense, with aromas of ripe yellow fruit, fresh almond, hints of butter, vanilla and toasted wood. On the palate it is enveloping and deep, with harmonious aromas and a long and persistent finish.
