This Bolgheri Rosso is the latest addition to the wines of the Tuscan winery Le Macchiole, a reference point for the quality and elegance of wines in the Bolgheri area. The path taken by Le Macchiole in recent years, in the direction of exalting the great potential of the Bolgherese terroir, is the key factor in the great results obtained by this, albeit small company on the Livorno coast, responding to a project started in 1983 and always characterized by environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
The Bolgheri Rosso of Le Macchiole is the result of a close and profound observation of the complex balance that governs the territory of Bolgheri, which has led this winery to try its hand at those vines of international origin, however invested in recent decades by a new aura of tradition with acclimatization on the clayey and calcareous soils of the area, often opting for the production of monovarietal wines. The need to transfer the most multifaceted territorial nuances into the expressive heritage of the wine is met by a capillary management of the vineyards, thanks to which expressive personality and identifiability are built on every geomorphological difference between the property plots.
In the cellar of Le Macchiole the fermentations follow the natural cycle of the harvests, with a chronological fragmentation that increases the level of commitment, but in the end it is a rewarding choice to start every wine making process with an almost perfect raw material. If Bolgheri’s fortunes for some time have descended from the black grape varieties, this Bolgheri Rosso is Le Macchiole’s homage to the territory that has built its fame: soft and juicy, with a dynamic opening on the palate of great intensity, Bolgheri Rosso de Le Macchiole is a wine of wide aromatic tension, able to return the gustatory thread to the original expression of the fruit.
